Compassion Fatigues - Laying in the Sunshine

At the first listen to Laying in the Sunshine by Compassion Fatigues I couldn't help but notice the jagged and obscure post punk delivery through the guitars - Boris Dzaneck and Bakesale era Sebadoh already come to mind. Brandon Saucier repeatedly sings "lying in the sunshine" in what sounds like a 3/4 signature chorus before the track flows into a jangle medium and then transitions into a moving second verse. Brandon's vocals are of a speak/sing style which is fitting for this track and it makes you wonder if it was written as a poem first, or if he just dove right into writing music and words.

I love what's coming out of Medicine Hat, Alberta, so far and will be keep Compassion Fatigues on my radar.
